Defeating the Deceit of Disappointment

Our lives are stories and in times of great change there are simply more words being written.

Today, we become disappointed when we set our hearts on people or on circumstances. God wants us to set our hearts only on Him. He wants us to trust in His goodness, even in the midst of our deepest disappointments.

It is very easy to become disappointed during seasons of great change.

Some people may call it transition, but change represents ending what was, and sometimes what was was good.
So how are we to navigate change, also known as seasons of disappointment?

I did some research and found a few verses that provide a consolation of heart during such times; here are a couple of them:

■  Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
■  Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens
■  Hebrews 6:19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain
■  Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
■  Isaiah 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
In times and seasons of great change and disappointment, it is not only knowing what to do, but what not to do.
During such seasons have a conviction in God’s:
Promises
Peace
Purpose
Provision
